About Me

Hi I’m Helen, a wildlife filmmaker & photographer.

In 2008 I left behind a corporate career in the big city lights of London and ran off to India to manage a safari camp (Kipling Camp) in the jungles of Kanha National Park. Here, like Rudyard Kipling, my childhood love for nature was re-ignited (although I haven’t written anything that could rival ‘The Jungle Book’!). The Indian jungle is still one of the most magical places I’ve ever been, and with an old Fujifilm camera at hand, I became obsessed with nature photography….. and Tigers!

Moving to North Sulawesi, Indonesia, I managed a conservation project ‘Selamatkan Yaki’, working with local communities & governments in protecting the critically endangered Black Crested Macaque. Here, I dived the famous ‘Lembeh Strait’, world renowned for its incredible otherworldly marine life. A good friend & pro photographer @christianloader kindly lent me his Nikon D200, and I began to teach myself the art of underwater macro photography.

The last 7 years I have been working at Silverback Films in Bristol, a leading wildlife documentary production company, partnered with the BBC, Netflix & Disneynature. I worked on Disneynature’s ‘BEARS’ (released in 2014) and then as Assistant Producer on Disneynature’s ‘DOLPHIN REEF’ (releasing November 2019, narrated by Natalie Portman), for which I was also principle stills photographer and ‘behind the scenes’ camera operator on location. I then became Edit Producer for Disneynature’s feature film ‘DIVING WITH DOLPHINS’ (releasing November 2019, narrated by Celine Cousteau), on the cinematographers’ adventures, with an added conservation message about dolphins, humpback whales, sharks and the fragility of our oceans coral reefs.

Welcome to my website showcasing some of my best photography to date. Underwater photography is my greatest passion, but I enjoy capturing people and terrestrial wildlife too, when I have the opportunity.

Since investing in a Panasonic GH5, I am now leaning towards videography, filming my own personal projects as well as filming & producing promotional videos for private clients.
